What a whirlwind!

The past few months have been a whirlwind, to say the least.

We had another trip back to Kenya in November 2023. We have been finalizing the website details, creating a video, packing stuff up, and making a list of things we needed or needed to do. We were also licensed into ministry by our home church. We have had many meetings with donors, friends, and family.

In December, my oldest son got engaged to a wonderful young lady who loves the Lord! I can’t wait to see what God has for these two. I am so thrilled to get to be a cheerleader for them!

January has been super busy! I got to go to one last conference with my coworkers. Billy’s last day on the job was January 12th and my last day was the 14th. Since then, we have been meeting with friends and family, and knocking things off our list.

In my first days of not working, I got a mild case of pneumonia! Oh man, I was zapped of energy. I joked that I was placed on “house arrest”. But I needed to rest up, so that I could be at my best. Once I recovered, we popped up some tables outside and opened the suitcases. My original “plan”, now had to get tweaked, and now the real work began!

Do you know how difficult it is to pack only three suitcases? We had to pack and weigh each one, only to unpack, repack and reweigh each one! LOL What a process!!

Every item was boiled down to one question, “Is it worth the weight in grand scheme of things?” If there was a doubt or even a hesitation, it was set aside or packed into a box to go through later. The “must have” items went into the bags first, and all other things were placed around it, until we met the weight limit for each suitcase.

At one point, while we were emptying all our personal belongings out of the RV, I felt slightly overwhelmed. It finally hit me. This is really happening!! Oh I need a HUG!

So here we are, moved into the home of a family member for our final 4 days in the States. We are knocking out the final errands, one by one.

All along this journey people have asked how we can so easily trust that God will provide everything that will be needed. Truth is that it is NOT easy, but it IS a continual choice that we are making. Trust me, we have had our mini freakout moments. However, we have seen God provide and take care of us all throughout our lives. We have seen Him blow us away by complete strangers giving into the Kingdom after one conversation. We have seen people around us step up and pray for us and this journey. We were able to reconnect with old friends and begin many new friendships. He has lined up some incredible Kingdom connections! Why would we want to doubt Him now?

Pray with us for these final days to be productive and a precious time spent with our family before we fly to begin our work on the ground in Kenya.

And the journey continues…..
