February Deep Bush Mission

The team went out to a remote area, created a “base camp” which consisted of 3 tents and a canopy for the kitchen.

That Saturday morning, they went to a specific area where we were told that people weren’t saved and needed to hear the Gospel. They arrived at a village and were greeted by three women and many children.

They shared the gospel and gave the family a solar audio Bible. The two younger mamas prayed and gave their lives to Jesus that day!

One of the younger women had recently been bitten by a hyena on both her hands and her forearm. She had already received stitches, but the bandages were old and the skin was closing around the gauze. Billy and Nikolas grabbed the med kits from the car, and began to clean out her wound, and were able to provide her with fresh bandages. They gave her money to cover the transportation and cost of the clinic. They explained that because of God’s great love for here, He had provided all she needed; body and soul.

In the picture, Billy is kneeling in front of an older guy. He was the elder of that village. Billy had just given the Gospel and asked if anyone wanted to give their lives to Jesus. All looked to this elder for approval! After a brief conversation with him, Billy shared “that your family looks to you, as my family looks to me to lead them”. Billy continued, “You can accept Christ at any time.”

The village made chai for the team. Billy noticed that the elder had already started listening to the audio Bible! Yay God! Plus, they gave us permission to come back and show the Jesus Film there. But God!

(I had to rely on the words of Emily, Billy and Nikolas to help put the above experience into words. Here’s why…)

While the team was out, I was trying to kick a “bug” of some sort. I barely had any energy and had difficulty keeping my eyes open for two days straight. That Friday, Stephanie took me in to the clinic. The doctor gave me some meds to settle my stomach and said that my body might just be sensitive to it’s new environment.

Well, it wasn’t until Sunday morning that I had energy to shower fully and walk a short ways alone! But man, I am so thankful for all of those prayers that went out!

I have slowly regained an appetite and my energy. I am still needing to “rest” and ask for help doing things more frequently, however, I am moving and AWAKE!

And we are just in week 3 here in Kenya! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Stay tuned!
